Christian Walker will be joining the Orioles. They want to take a look at him and rest Steve Pearce before playoffs. Mini audition of sorts

Roch Kubatko of masnsports.com is reporting that the Orioles will bring first baseman Christian Walker to the major league roster. The move is designed to give Buck Showalter the flexibility of resting Steve Pearce, particularly in a scenario when current backup Ryan Flaherty is spelling another infielder.
The move required Walker to be added to the 40-man roster, and though the Orioles are calling him up earlier than anticipated, it’s a good problem to have. In the past, early promotions were acts of desperation. Here, it’s a calculated move to push the Orioles toward their ultimate goal: winning the World Series.
As Kubatko notes, Walker stands to get a “mini-audition of sorts,” in the most absurd setting: the Orioles are playing meaningless games in September.
And we the fans couldn’t be happier.
Great to see another Gamecock playing for my O’s..
