Quite possibly the most exciting part of what has been a relatively boring offseason for Orioles fans were the trade rumors linked to star center fielder Adam Jones.
At one time it seemed that Jones definitely wouldn’t be wearing the new cartoon bird hat in Baltimore this season as he seemed to be linked to a deal that would send him to Atlanta for Jair Jurrjens and Martin Prado. While Jones is the probably the face of the franchise, I don’t think Baltimore has anyone on their roster that is untouchable.
Throughout the rumors, Jones stayed positive to his fans on Twitter. Many have wondered if he has a desire to stay in Baltimore when his contract expires at the end of next season.
“I’m so hungry to win for Bmore,” Jones tweeted on Thursday. “I’ll even try the damn crab cakes.”
Jones explained that he had crab cakes in 2006, but that he didn’t like them. He added that he’s willing to give it another try.
With players like Jones , you can see why baseball is dead in Baltimore…………
Jones,Weiters.Jim Johnson.Arrieta, Britton,Hardy, all good players, If and its a BIG if young pitchers can come thru NO, NO baseball is not dead in Baltimore. Only on a long siesta!!!!
Spy,
We’ve been seeing eye-to-eye lately, but not on this one. I’m a big fan of Jones. The team doesn’t have too many decent players, but he is one.
He may be the best player on a team of average players but he is not good enough to play center field on any of the contending teams………….He may be the team leader on this team but the O’s need a great player to be their leader , the other teams have great leaders and the O’s are stuck with players like Jones to be the leader,,,,,,,,The only point I was trying to make was the O’s need better players than this to win their division and Jones is not it………He is not a bad player but he is not the answer , my corporate background says ‘if you are not part of the solution , you are part of the problem, sorry it’s just the way I look at it………….we can agree to disagree if you wish…………
I agree with spy , Adam Jones is an arrogant role player and the O’s need role models and a few great players , a leader he is not.
“Hungry to win” – apropos of nothing that used to be Tejada’s favorite line
Lets be honest here : Adam Jones is an arrogant , overpaid average player who has become a millionaire at the expense of some fans in Baltimore who still believe the O’s want to win. Baseball is at an all-time low in Baltimore , it is not dead thanks to revenue sharing because that is want is running this club , nothing more nothing less.
