The Associated Press, via BaltimoreSun.com, reported on Tuesday morning that Orioles reliever Alfredo Simon has been denied bail and will remain in jail.
The 29-year-old pitcher is expected to stay in jail for a year on charges of involuntary manslaughter while officials investigate a fatal shooting on New Year’s Eve.
Simon’s lawyer has said he was firing celebratory shots in the air. Defense attorney Dinosa Dilone said she plans to appeal Tuesday’s ruling.
Simon has spent the past two seasons with the Orioles and was in the closer discussion in 2010.
Do the crime, now you must do the time. Maybe Simon will serve as what not to do for other athletes?
did you read the post or have followed the story? Everyone is waiting on the ballistics test to prove it came from his gun. The early tests were a negative match.
If he is found guilty, then by all means he should serve his time. But this year of serving time based on inconclusive evidence makes me glad to be an American.
Willo- i imagine you are smarter than this. act like it.
