You think Morneau returns to form this year? I’ve kept him on my bench all year when i could really use the spot since I’ve lost Hamilton and Zimmerman for a while. I’m one to usually hold on to players that down the road could get hot rather than seeing someone reap the rewards. It’s a defensive strategy that I think does more harm than good. Thoughts?
@Beas – Morneau does return to form eventually. No reason why he shouldn’t. Former MVP’s don’t die off that fast. Unless there are some really good players available for you to get I would keep riding him out.
Crawford and Cargo projections for rest of the season?
Both will still produce a lot…Cargo will finish at .310 27 HR 20 SB…Carl Crawford .300 13 HR 45 SB…regardless I would certainly trade low for them if you can
I have Cargo, someone offered me bautista for him. Should i do it?
@allan – Geez what a tough question…Cargo will give you better AVG and will steal bases…Bautista will give you more HR obviously…your selling low on your first round pick and buying high on a guy who I agree is a legit power hitter, but is also overachieving when it comes to consistency and AVG…Bautista will still hit a ton of HR, but he will stop hitting the ball everyday and will hurt your AVG most weeks…because your trying to sell low and buy high I say no don’t do it…especially since its your first round pick your selling low on
So what do you project Hanley Ramirez to do for the rest of the year? It seems as if things aren’t clicking for him and have been hearing that he isn’t getting along with teammates at the moment.
@Stephen T – He will also be fine. Guys with that much talent are too good to just not hit. He will explode and have a huge couple of weeks any day now. And if they don’t like him in Florida then he can get shipped elsewhere and really put up huge numbers. I wouldn’t trade him. Tulo is the only other SS worth having, but I wouldn’t sell low on Hanley and buy high on Tulo, who I didn’t think would be a great 1st Rd pick to being with…look at the back of his baseball card next year and the #’s from this year will be the same as the others.
Ok thanks, I was actually thinking of trading Evan Longoria for Hanley. The guy that has Hanley is weak at 3rd and is in last so I’m hoping he will maybe jump on that.
0-3-1 so far…need help!
Roster:
C-McAnn, 1B-Howard, 2B-Weeks, 3B-Ar.Ramirez, OF-Abreu,Hunter,Carlos Gonzalez, Util-M.Young, Ellsbury. BN-Markakis, Gordon Beckham
P’s: Brett Anderson, Derek Lowe, Chacin, Broxton, Stauffer, Brandon Lyon, Beachy, Bud Norris, Kershaw, Liriano, Fr. Francisco.
Pretty middle of the pack in all stats for the league, but get dominated in pitching every damn week (esp # of losses).
Where to start making changes?
Your thoughts on L. Berkman? I was initially trying to sell high on him but now I am starting to think he will be worth keeping. Clearly not going to hit .400 all season but what are the odds he continues to produce at a high level?
So Brandon Lyon blew another save today and has been awful so far but it seems that there is no one better in the bullpen to take his closer spot. With Wilton Lopez just coming back do you think the Astros will take give Mark Melancon a shot at closer?
@NestMinder – That team doesn’t look that bad, tough to tell why you keep losing. In a league with loses its good to have plenty of RP and your RP isn’t too good. Broxton/Lyon may both have lost their jobs after last night and today. Francisco should be closing shortly. I would let go of Hunter and get another pitcher. You have too many bench hitters. I usually don’t advise cutting high upside guys, but with all those bench hitters and Weeks I would probably let go of Beckham only because you need to win now. Also if there are any of closers of value I would grab them and let Lyon and Broxton go. When Cargo heats up you’ll get an offensive boost
@Matt – I would sell him high. Its only early May and he wasn’t on anyone’s radar in the draft. If you can get a great player for him do it. I’m sure he will continue to put up decent numbers, but he is an injury risk, and risky to put up those numbers over 6 months at his age.
@Stephen T. – I would only deal Longo for Hanley if you have another good 3B. Melancon should be the first guy to get save chances if they take it from Lyon. And they certainly should.
Any chance for more two-start pitcher columns? The one you did two weeks ago carried me to 5 pitching categories and an 8-2 win on the back of Norris and Garland, you nailed it! Thanks
Eric Hosmer has been called up by KC…if your hurting at 1B grab him now because he has the chance to make an impact immediately.
First year in FB…h2h, total points only league. The pitching iswhat I am most unsure about. My pitchers are: Hamels, Jurrjens, Lohse, Burnett, Gio Gonzales, Wandy Rodriguez, Hanrahan, Madsen. My opponent this week has 4 two start pitchers, so I picked up Zambrano and Arrieta to help, and I also have Peavy on my bench.
Norris, Cueto, and Carmona are pitchers avail. to me. Is it worth adding any of them in place of one of my roster pitchers, and are they more valuable going forward?
I appreciate your help!

PS
Uggla or Lowrie at 2B?
My other starters are:
Teixiera, Tulo, Bautista, Ethier, Suzuki, Ellsbury, Berkman, and Montero.
Thanks!
Dartlounge

@Dartlounge – Hamels/Gio/Jurrjens/Wandy are all very solid. Lohse and Burnett have been good so far, but overtime I think you will be cutting them. How many bench hitters do you have? Your league either doesn’t have that many roster spots or you have too many bench hitters. Your offensive starters are very strong so you only need one bench hitter. If you have more than that then cut those guys for more pitchers. All 3 of those pitchers that you said were available should be on teams. Norris is the first guy I’d get. Its hard to cut any of your starters because they have all performed so well. I do like Norris better than Burnett though. Carmona and Cueto are both also worth owning but I’d hold on to your guys instead of adding them. Hopefully you have a bench hitter or two that you can cut to grab them. Overall your team is pretty strong and my bet is that your doing fine and currently in a playoff spot. Am I right?
Daily hth points dropping molina for combo of hernandez and hanigan. will get 162 games of starting catcher
I have Sanchez 1b
Prado 2b
Mcgehee 3b
Ramirez ss
Crawford of
Elsbury
Suzuki
Butler dh
Coghlan dh
Hill bn
Want to drop hill for morrison or beltran and start one at dh for butler. what do you think?
Cruz dl
First of all I wouldn’t want Hernandez or Hanigan. I think I would rather have a catcher who plays 5 days a week than have a combination of catchers who will hit .250 with not much power and really kill my average. Wilson Ramos and Hank Conger are guys who are slowly becoming the catchers will play every single day. I would grab one of them now. Ramos is already playing 4-5 days but it will become 6 when Pudge is traded. You team seems like its very speed heavy and light on power. There isn’t much you can do to change that now unless you make some trades. Aaron Hill does need to go. Logan Morrison is a solid option who returns on Friday. He is a guy that can do almost everything for your team. He won’t kill your AVG like Beltran, and he will match him or beat him in every other category. Coghlan has kinda already died off and shouldn’t be kept much longer either. If you can find a guy with power I’d cut Coghlan for him. You could add both Morrison and Beltran. Or you could take a chance on Hosmer and start Sanchez, Butler, and Hosmer. 3 first basemen with upside could offer you some nice power. But give Hosmer a short leash as rookies tend to struggle early. I’m just saying he has potential to give you what you need and if he doesn’t give it then get rid of him. There may be better options available though.
I can potentially trade Hafner for Stanton, strait up. It seems like a no-brainer, but Pronk looks great this year and his OPS is around .200 points higher than Stanton this year. As an Indians fan, I am a natural pessimist so that clouds my judgment. Give me a hand here
If your the one getting Stanton do it right now, send him a thank you card, and take him out to lunch.
Hey,
I drafted Adam Jones and like how he’s performed so far…but, i’m in desperate need of steals and there’s an owner in my league who is targeting Santos (I’ve also got Rivera, Street and Brandon League at RP)and he’s made B.J. Upton available. I’m thinking Jones and Santos for Upton get’s it done. The rest of my roster would look like this
C: Arrencibia
1B: Smoak and Morneau
2B: Cano
SS: Starlin Castro
3B: Prado (fornow but Zimmerman once he’s back)
Outfielders:
Bautista
Prado (Once Zimmerman is off the DL)
Upton
Matt Joyce
Chris Coghlan
Jeff Franceour
(The last three, i’ve just been , depending on matchups, while my pitching has been hot instead of streaming in a probable starter a few days a week.)
What do you think?
@Collin – I think Adam Jones has more value than BJ Upton does. Upton will definitely steal more bases though. Some people think Adam Jones is overachieving when really he is just doing what he was projected to do. This is the kind of player he really is. If the guy really wants Santos then he should be willing to take him along with Joyce or Coghlan or Francoeur. I would deal one of those OF instead.
what are the odds on haren punching sciosia and rodney in the mouth. i am considering dropping haren and piniera because sciosia keeps putting rodney into games. who do you think i could get in return for them in a trade?
is this a good trade?
Receive
Joey Votto
Curtis Granderson
Johnny Damon
Trade Away
Justin Morneau
Shane Victorino
Josh Beckett
@John Christopher – Well Lackey left for that same reason. Haren is a good sell high. Pineiro doesn’t really have trade value because he’s available in so many other leagues. Haren can probably be traded for a 4th round draft talent. Depends what you need. He has increased his value since draft though.
@Jack – Absolutely. I would trade away Morneau/Victorino/Beckett for only Joey Votto. I would actually trade Morneau/Victorio/Beckett/Granderson/Damon all for Joey Votto. Votto is the best player in the game and the best fantasy player to have. He has more value than any player in baseball.
I picked up austin Jackson when he was starting to hit better but now he’s cooled off a little. Cameron Maybin’s on fire and available. Should I drop Jackson and pick up Maybin?(It’s kind of ironic with the Maybin/Tigers trade)
@John – Sounds good. Neither are guys I would want long term. Its good to use a spot like that and constantly have guys who are hitting.
Help!
I have–Molina-Sanchez-Prado-A Ramirez-McGehee-Crawford-Elsbury-Suzuki-Butler-Morrison-Coghlan-Cruz(DL)
Carpenter-Haren-Halliday-Lester-Garcia- Hanson-Pineiro-Arroyo-Hammel—–Madson-Francisco-Venters
Dropping Hammel for 2start Stauffer
Arroyo for Latos and Coghlan for Aramis Ramirez to DH
Benching Crawford?
Hamilton(DL) on trade block—Offered Carpenter
Should I offer Haren for Hamilton? Crawford for? or Stand Pat?
I won first 3 by 2,5,11 points Lost last 2 by 15 and 7. Sunday Nites have been pretty exciting at my house.
Any suggestions or help would be greatly appreciated.
Thank You, John
First Year Playing
Any chance Nathan regains his closer status? I’m in a league where we’re all fighting for saves. Everyone is stocking up on closers and I’m hesitant to drop him. He’s currently on the bench but my team has strong needs in a few areas — stolen bases, ERA, WHIP, Runs. Am I being delusional by holding onto this guy? Also, do you think Homer Bailey is worth adding? Thanks.
I forgot to tell you my league is a very competitive h2h points league.
Thanks John
Fantasy God,
Its John again . Wanted to give you some names on Waiver List
Rios-Young-Bay-A. Jones-Beltran-Kubel-Markakis-Hunter_Swisher-Andrus. I could make a team off the waiver wire.
h2h points —my previous question was Earlier.
Sorry, John
@John Christopher – I like your roster. Good move on getting Stauffer as a two starter. He’s better than Pineiro to keep long term. Not sure what Arroyo for Latos means. Hopefully that wasn’t a trade you did. If you did then that stings. If your in a daily league then play Crawford to his matchups each day. Which means look at how he’s done against the starter. If the numbers are bad bench him if you have another guy with good numbers against their starter. If he starts to get on a couple game hit streak then leave him in regardless. If your in a weekly lineup league they roll with him and leave him in. Not a Hamilton fan and hate how he is always injured, but if you can get him for Carpenter then do it. I think your pitching is strong enough to offer Haren as well. Hamilton will be very good while healthy, but Im just not sure how long that will be. Don’t sell Crawford low. You can’t do that with first rounders. Not in the first half of the season. Your doing fine, don’t make rookie mistakes. Hold onto your high picks and good players even if they are struggling. Its a long season.
@John Christopher – Just saw you left another comment John. Cut Coghlan and get Markakis. He should not be available. If someone else gets him then I would get Beltran too.
@Terry M. – Homer Bailey is absolutely worth adding. Really like him. Get him. And I’ve never been that huge on saves. I wouldn’t waste a roster spot on a guy who isn’t doing anything for me if I had needs. Saves is only one small category. Let him and go and just be quick in getting a guy when another guys loses his job if you need saves. But I would prioritize those other 5 categories you need before one single saves category.
Is it time to give up on Gordon Beckham? Darwin Barney looks like a decent roster replacement.
Also, I see that you like Homer Bailey but how do you think he compares to Lohse if you can add one or the other?
I’m going after Josh Johnson and offering Starlin Castro, Franceour and Madison Bumgarner. The guy i’m making this proposal too is in last place in my 12 team league, has a loaded pitching staff, doesn’t have an elite SS and his OF (Werth, Bay, Gardner and Sizemore) is underachieving and not providing much in terms of AVG or power. What do you think of this proposal?
@Terry M. – If your struggling or losing go ahead and dump Beckham. You didn’t invest a very high pick in him so its not a huge loss. Although I believe he is starting to play a little better and will have a big second half. I do like Homer Bailey a lot and he is much better than Kyle Lohse.
@Collin – I think its good for you. Losing Castro is tough and hopefully there is a decent SS replacement available. Francoeur is a sell high and won’t put up those numbers long. Bumgarner is good but worth dealing for Johnson.
I would probably pick up Hardy off the waiver wire and use him while he’s healthy. Other than him it’s Jamey Carroll, Alex Gonazlez, Ian Desmond (would help me in steals)…not a lot of available quality SS’s leftover.
@Collin – Hardy is hot right now, but when the hot streak ends he’s worthless in fantasy…i don’t really mind desmond since he’s running a lot, but he is day to day…id make him the first choice…carroll has been hot lately and is hitting leadoff…i actually picked him up in one league for a few days until utley returns
Fantasy God,
In a 10 team h2h points, pitcher streaming, competitive league, how many wins do you think it will take to make the playoffs (6 teams)or First Place. Right now 2 teams @ 4-1 I’m @ 3-2.
John
@John Christopher – One of mine is also a ten team head to head. I usually lose about 3 or 4 a season each year and I’m typically the number one seed. Just stay over .500 and you should get into the playoffs.
I’m thinking Chatwood or Carrasco for Tuesday and then drop him for Ross on Thursday and then pick one of them back up for their 2nd start. Dropping bn of I picked up by mistake to do this.
Your Thoughts
@John Christopher – Both are good options and I actually have both of them for this week. I’ve had Carrasco all year and just added Chatwood yesterday. I’d say Chatwood is better for tomorrow. Both should do fine. It all sounds good.
Fantasy God,
I have Madson-Francisco-Venters in h2h points league
Would you drop one and pick up Salas-Nathan or Downs
Or drop Stauffer and pick up one and have 4 RP
John
@John Christopher – I don’t see a reason to carry RP’s who don’t get you saves. Do you have to start 3 RP’s each week? If you have to start 3 then I would cut Venters because Kimbrel isn’t going to give up that job, and get Salas out of those options because he is the only one who will get some saves. If you only have to start 2 I would only carry Madson and Francisco. Don’t cut Stauffer. SP is more important than RP.
What do you think of this trade offer — Brian Roberts, Neftali Feliz, and Alexi Ogando for Robinson Cano?
Forget Roberts. Alex Gordon, Feliz, and Ogando for Cano. Thoughts?
alright….. i just made a blockbuster trade… tell me who ended up winning this trade….. i traded a-rod and ubaldo jimenez for gaby sanchez and matt kemp… i have good pitching.. so losing ubaldo is alright with me… my batters were lacking, and i really needed to upgrade…. so esentaily i felt losing one batter to get 2 good batters helps me…. even if that batter is a-rod… and like i said… im not hurting on pitching…. so…. did i boo-boo? or did i do the right thing?… thanks as always, almighty fantasy god….
@Terry M. – If your getting Cano then definitely do it. If your giving up Cano then its not even close to being a good deal for you.
@bobee – That’s a fair deal. You kinda sold Ubaldo low which I’m never a fan of but I like your return. Kemp is a 1st Rd talent and Gaby is an allstar. Long term I think he slightly got the better deal once Ubaldo returns to form, but to help your offense now and still be solid going forward it makes sense for you.
I’m not that worried about losing ubaldo…….. cause I got haren, cliff lee, britton, and cahill in a 20 team league….. I’m also looking at several free agents available to improve my pitching staff constantly……. my leauge offers 7 aquisition per match up….. so I tend to pick up a pitcher like tyson ross or jason vargas on the days pitch and then drop them the next day for another probable starter. I use my gut…. and so far its been paying off… I’m 5-1, and I’m on a 5 game winning streak……. but my hitting has been some what mediocer…. so I used an extra pitcher and my poteintial wise best hitter for 2 guys who are consistantly scoring on a daily basis… I got lucky and pick up hosmer abd darwin barney when they were like 0.1% owned and now there in the 90% tile. I know your opinion on % owned is low….. but ithink I’m on to something…. its like the stock market…… it gives me an idea on what other owners value each player….. on the flip side, guys I’ve picked up like ryan roberts and mark trumbo have tended to be streaky….. there % tends to drop when not playing as well…… that’s when you gotta decide to cut the line or tough it out… I generaly drop them untill I’m sure there outta gas….. then I jump on another bandwagon and move on…. I try to ride hot hitters till they fizzle out…… its the only way I’ve managed to win. Sorry for the long post…… I don’t wish to sound ignorant in front of an almighty god such as your self… is my logic flawed? Poke holes in my hyppothesis and let me know. Thanks fantasy god!
Jurrjens for Joyce…what do you think? Jurrjens has looked great and Joyce is en fuego and is potentially breaking out.
My current team:
Yadier Molina
Justin Smoak/Justin Morneau
Robinson Cano
Starlin Castro
Prado/Zimmerman/Bautista
Bautista/Adam Jones/Joyce/Franceour
Ubaldo Jimenez
Yovani Gallardo
Bud Norris
Madison Bumgarner
Derek Lowe
Homer Bailey
Ryan Vogelsong
Jason Vargas
Mariano Rivera
Houston Street
Sergio Santos
Brandon League
@bobee – you’ve got it down…your steaming pitchers daily, buying low, riding streaks, and finding new streaks…thats everything you have to do to win and your winning…keep doing all of that and you’ll be fine…wouldn’t change a thing
@Collin – I would sell Joyce high for Jurrjens…I’ve looked into Joyce and I see that he once had a high ceiling so I really do think he is a good player that has broken out…at least for this year…next year he will be on my stay away from list, but this season is a go…he’s still risky to produce for the entire season this year because he hasn’t done it yet, so thats a good deal…you really have to do something at catcher though…wait for montero to come up and then pounce on him…not a big fan of keeping 4 RP though…everyone knows i like to have as many SP as possible
iam begining to worry about mourneau a bit.i know hes been hitting better lately…… but apperantly neck soreness has been an issue and hes been shooting up cordizone to get to the plate….. iam thinking its only a matter of time before he hits the dl again…… am i wrong to think that? and if iam write….. would it be smart to try to trade him for say… jhonny peralta? after trading a rod, im screwed at third base and he s eligible in my league at 3rd and all i got is ryan roberts…. and his stock is falling along with his hits….. i got hosmer, gaby sanchez, and carlos lee at 1st…. and i got a few outfielders who are eligible at 1st as well….. iam bleeding at 3rd and iam questioning my thoughts on aquiring talent before need…… thoughts, fantasy god?
I’m don’t think i’m as concerned as you with my catcher sport right now, i’ve like Arencibia and i’m certainly keeping an eye on Montero. Yadi’s AVG is the kicker for me, i like not having to worry about my catcher killing AVG. There isn’t a lot of legit/consistent/available starting pitching, i’m picking up Colon (somebody who i’ve had all season but dropped last week because I knew nobody would claim him…any under the radar starters you like?
@bobee – Peralta is on a hot streak and will fade away when its over. The chance of Morneau putting it all together is higher than the chance of Peralta playing this way for an extended amount of time. You seem pretty set at 1B and I would try to deal any of those guys for a 3B. I think Sanchez is legit so thats the guy I would keep, but if you have to deal him I would since you also have the other guys. Maybe try to target Zimmerman/Pablo/Wright since they should be cheaper right now. Someone may give you Pablo for Hosmer straight up. Thats a great deal long term, you’ll just have to wait another 3 weeks for Pablo. In the mean time watch for guys like Valencia and Callaspo who are playing well.
@Collin – Colon is fine for now until he gets injured. Ride him out.
Hi..I’m in a $300 12 team H/H..points league…I have a staff of Lee,Hanson,Garza(hurt)Pineiro,Volquez,Buchholz,Colon,Harrison,Zimmerman…what I’m looking for is a another SP to with Lee & Hanson to form a strong top 3…
Question is would you trade (give) Adrian Gonzalez & Buchholz for (get)Teixeira & Hamels
right now what kind of a SP could I expect to get back if I traded
Hosmer
h/h points league would you rather start R Martin or Soto ( when he comes back)
which one of my first base man would you trade for callaspo?
@joeman – Starting pitching is really about having the best top of the order guys it’s about having depth and you have nice depth. I certainly would not trade the potential AL MVP Adrian Gonzalez in a deal for Hamels. I believe that Garza/Zimmermann/Buchholz can be as good as Hamels this season. Its hard to tell for Hosmer. Right now he could probably get a middle of the rotation guy or another young gun like a Britton/Hellickson/Daniel Hudson. I would pull off those deals. And in a head to head points league I would go with Soto. Martin is older, injury prone, hitting for a low average, and hasn’t done much since the beginning of the season. Plus he has Jesus Montero knocking at his door. Soto is guaranteed a spot in the heart of the order and puts up decent numbers. He also gets on base more for a points league
@bobee – None of them for Callaspo. Callaspo is a nice fill in guy who can hit for a decent avg and may hit a HR or steal a base every once in awhile, but long term he wont help you win a championship. Think bigger. Go for an injured Sandoval.
10 team h2h points league
Would you offer Ichiro Suzuki for Victorino—Have elsbury cruz morrison lind.
Also, i might be able to get mauer for carpenter or latos?
ive begun to think that having two closers on staff everyday is dragging my overall score down….. it would be alright if i could fill my entire line up with them…. but the only ones i have are farnsworth, santos, and bailey, whos coming off the dl soon….. i was thinking i could put all three of them together for a top notch starter….. is that possible?…. i was thinking verlander…. or possibly hernadez…. even oswalt.. maybe lester…… gio gonzalez?…. im kinda bias on a’s pitching… tell me your thoughts fantasy gods…. am i silly to think i could even pull an elite starter with the likes of farnsworth,santos,bailey?….. if i gave up all three for one starter would i be a silly goose?…. am i foolish for thinking i dont need closers?… that i could win with starting pitching alone? am i wrong fantasy god?
@John Christopher – Ichiro for Victorino doesn’t make sense. Ichiro is far better and they are not on the same level. I would deal Carpenter or Latos for Mauer. Mauer started extended spring training so he should be about 2 weeks away hopefully. That means you would still have an entire second half with a batting champion. Try to deal Carpenter before Latos.
@bobee – Some people don’t go with any closers and it really depends on what your categories are. If your in a 10 points league where its Wins, Saves, Ks, ERA, and WHIP then saves are kind of important because there aren’t a whole lot of categories. I myself like to carry 2 closers just to try to win the category each week if I can. I don’t like to punt any categories and I always try for every point I can get. If you were to decide to deal them then you would not get a top notch starter for them. A guy like Verlander or Felix is out of the question. Gio Gonzalez is a closer expectation. I think Gio has much more value than a group of closers, but maybe you could pull it off. If not then you would even need to go down to the next tier of guys. Maybe for a Morrow/Hellickson/Daniel Hudson/Matusz/Pineda type of guy.
if a closer were to strike all three batters out in the 9th to record the save he would record 11 points…… he gets a bonus point for striking the batter out, other wise its just a point for every out recorded and five for the save…… with a point being subtracted for every hit walk and run given up. i just feel like grabbing starters is something i should do instead of trying to squeeze 8-11 points out of a guy every 4 days you know?….
@bobee – It sounds good to me. Go for it.
With Jorge De la Rosa going down, do you like Bud Norris as a replacement? I noticed he was added to waivers earlier today. Thanks.
10 team h2h points league
I have mcgehee @ 3b aramis ramariz and jed lowrie are on waivers.
should I make a switch? Or move prado to 3b and get darwin barney–beckham or hill for 2b
Thanks
I’m in a big dilemma right now. I have two players on the DL, Johnson and Mauer, and I also have Uggla. I’m trying to move Uggla and I’m not quite sure to do with Mauer. Should I trade him? Lucroy looks very promising at this point, he’s in FA in my league, and I could use Mauer as a big trade piece. I’ve also flirted with trading Cabrera for A-Gonz, not sure about that either. I ask you this because if you are the God, then I would expect that you would know all and see all.
I have an OF of Hamilton, Berkman, McCutchen, Franceour, Bourn and Sizemore (DL). I can only play 3 of these guys per day. I don’t think I can drop any of these guys, so if I were to trade 1 or 2, which 2 should I let go?
Is guthrie a hold as part of rotation or just a streamer?
Thanks
in a h/h league …was offered either Cahill or B Anderson which one would you want going foward
@John Christopher – Aramis and Barney are nice pick ups. Barney seems to be overachieving so I’d feel safer with Aramis…especially since he should be dealt at the trade deadline and can be playing in a good offense by the end of the season…perhaps in the other side of Chicago or behind Pujols/Holliday/Berkman
@Zach – Tough questions. It’s hard to remember just how great Mauer is because we havnt seen him all year but he is still the best in the game. His average will carry your team each week…i wouldnt want to deal him low…Uggla has been very frustrating, but again I really don’t like the idea of selling high picks low. If you can get 3rd round value then I’d deal him, but I would just ride or die by him until it gets later in the season. If by late July he is still terrible then dump him. Adrian will probably put up better numbers than MCab so thats a good deal in my eyes.
@Mike – Berkman and Francoeur are sells highs so if you can get good value for them then do that. If your in a points league get rid of Bourn, but if you need him for steals then he should stay. Sizemore is always hurt so he probably doesn’t have any trade value, but if he does deal him. So in order of trade bait it would be #1 Francoeur #2 Sizemore #3 Berkman #4 Bourn #5 Hamilton #6 Mccutchen
@John Christopher – Depending how deep your league is Guthrie is usually a streamer. If (and hopefully not) he would get traded to a contender then he would be worth holding on to.
@joeman – Thats a very tough call. Its very hard to distinguish between these Oakland starters. I like Brett Anderson better based on my gut instincts. I like Gio Gonzalez better than them both.
Michael Morse, Michael Brantley, Ryan Ludwick, Laynce Nix, and Tori Hunter, Pick 3 to start today
@John – Morse is in. 2/3 against Richard and on fire. Nix is in. He has hits in 13 of his last 14 games that he started and Richard is terrible on the road. The other 3 are a toss up. I’m going to go against splits and go with Hunter as the third. Although he is 0/7 against Baker he is on a hot streak and Baker isn’t that good of a pitcher to keep him down. Brantley against David Price is risky, and Ludwick is bad against Lannan. If you wanted to go with Brantley over Hunter that would work too. Wouldn’t start Ludwick.
@John – Nix is not in the lineup tonight so get him out. Also Ludwick just hit the second longest ball I’ve ever seen during BP.
i cant get sandoval and iam still bleedung at 3b….. casey blake is off the dl and is available in my league… iam out of aqusitions this week so if iam gonna make a grab for him i have to wait 2 days…. is casey blake worth a gander?….. i still got roberts and i picked up desclasco in the mean time…… i also cant seem to pedal my three closers…. iam thinking of going a different route and trading one of my aces… preferabley your man britton for 2 closers…. that woud give me 5 closers and 4 spots to stream in starters….. iam trying to wirk with what i got… if no one wants my closers… i should pick up two more and take a stab at most saves on my league…. is that smart fantasy baseball, fantasy god?
@bobee – Casey Blake is not good and isn’t worth adding. I wouldn’t carry Desclasco. I also wouldn’t carry 5 closers. I only like to have 2. 3 max. Saves is only one category so I wouldn’t use that many roster spots just to win one category. Ryan Roberts is a better 3B than all the guys your talking about. Just stick with him until you can find a deal to get something better.
Hey,
I picked up Coco Crisp to be my 4th outfielder and he’s really my only legitimate base stealer. Other outfielders are Bautista, Adam Jones, and Joyce. Jose Tabata was dropped in my league and looks like he’s starting to piece together a string of nice games. Who do you see having a better season the rest of the way Crisp or Tabata? Also when do you think make sense for me to set my “breaking point” on sticking with (and not dropping) Morneau? Now? End of June? Never? Smoak’s my other 1st baseman and i’ve gotten almost no production out of the two of them the last 2 weeks…
@Collin – I’m in a similar situation in one league with Coco being my only base stealer. Coco and Tabata are very similar and should put up similar numbers. Long term I like Tabata better because he’s younger and because Crisp is injury prone. Tabata has a higher ceiling for sure. Morneau is the biggest mystery of this season. Because of the potential I would stick with him for now. I would wait a little bit after the allstar break to see if he starts putting it together for a nice second half. If your fighting for a playoff spot and really need to win now then you need to have guys who are performing now. In that case I could understand letting him be someone else’s headache. Take a chance on Belt.
One more question. I now have Bailey, Salas, League and Santos as my RP. I need to drop one. Any suggestions as to whom?
Hey, any thoughts on a Prado and Street for Anibal Sanchez and Logan Morrison deal?
Post trade roster:
Molina
Morneau
Cano
Castro
Bautista (Zimm on the DL)
Adam Jones
Joyce
Coco
Anibal Sanchez
Yovani
Ubaldo
Bumgarner
Bud Norris
Lowe
Colon
Vogelsong
Bailey
Rivera
Santos
Hanrahan
with 3 open roster spots.
Accidentally ommited Morrison from the above “post trade roster.” He obviously would be sticking around.
@Zach – League is the worst of those guys.
@Collin – Do it. I really like LoMo. He’s reached base in every single game this season that he’s played. Your already set at 2B and SS so Prado is expendable.
Hamilton or Berkman, who would you rather have going forward? I’ve been offered Cliff Lee straight up for both, and I’ve been looking to trade an OF for a pitcher. Obviously Hamilton has a higher ceiling when healthy, but when is he ever healthy?
@Brian – Trade Lance Berkman away for Cliff Lee. That would be an amazingly good deal. I have more trust in Hamilton staying healthy than I do in Berkman performing well in the second half. Not even close. Deal Berkman now.
