David Hernandez took the hill for the Orioles in Baltimore looking to duplicate his best start of the season last Sunday in Fenway Park. Unfortunately, he didn’t have the luck he had on the road.

Hernandez only allowed two earned runs, both solo homers from Dustin Pedrioa and Kevin Youkilis, but Hernandez was taken out of the game after just 4.2 innings.

Hernandez did get out of a couple jams though. In the second inning he got Dustin Pedrioa to ground out with the bases loaded and he struck out Jason Varitek with two on in the third.

Josh Beckett pitched seven nasty innings against the Birds. Beckett gave up just six hits and struck out five in seven innings pitched. He became the first pitcher of the year to win 13 games.

Baltimore had two runners on the 6th, 7th, and 8th innings, but grounded into double plays to kill their chances of scoring.

The Birds are now 2-10 against the Red Sox and hope to salvage one game of the three game series on Sunday.
