The rumors are true. Alfonso Ribeiro, better known as Carlton Banks, will be in attendance at the Bowie Baysox Fresh Prince of Bel-Air Night on Thursday June 20 at Prince George’s Stadium.
There’s no way I’m missing this.
Ribeiro Carlton will be performing his famous Calrton Dance during the game, signing autographs and posing for photos. Here’s some more info from the Baysox official press release.
Assistant General Manager Phil Wrye is excited for this event. “If you are a child of the 90s or just a 90s television fan, you probably know the lyrics to the ‘Fresh Prince of Bel-Air’ theme song by heart,” Wrye said. “Anyone who may have tried the Carlton Dance once or twice will not want to miss this chance to see it live at the stadium and also to meet one of the stars from this classic show.”
Ribeiro played the character Carlton Banks for seven seasons (1990-96) on the popular NBC sitcom “Fresh Prince of Bel-Air.” In addition to performing the Carlton Dance and signing autographs, Ribeiro will also sing the National Anthem before the game. Ribeiro will be signing autographs on a first come, first served basis for a limited period of time during the game, so fans interested in meeting the TV star should plan on arriving early to get in line.
This has to be the best Minor League promotion of the season, right? I know the Frederick Keys are having their Cowboy Monkey Rodeo on August 17, which is monkeys riding dogs herding sheep, but this is Carlton we’re talking about — and he’s doing the dance.
See you in Bowie on June 20.
