You’ve got to love Buck Showalter. The Orioles skipper should be receiving a nice new contract extension this week, but he constantly humbles himself when asked about it.
“Honestly, the way I judge whether or not I’ve got enough money is, if I can walk into Target and buy anything I want, I’m in good shape,” Showalter said on Wall to Wall Baseball according to Roch Kubatko of MASNSports.com. “I have a contract for this year, and I’ve said it all along, there are people in our country, seriously, who have it tough, so to sit here and talk about it always drives me crazy. Showalter says that he and Peter Angelos have talked and that the Orioles owner has been “very forthright and upfront about what we’d like to do.”
When asked further about shopping at Target, Showalter added, “getting an Icee and a popcorn and walking around, it’s special.”
