After clobbering the Blue Jays in a leaky dome in Canada, Buck Showalter wasn’t concerned about the Yankees matchup against the Rays. Even though the result of that game determined whether his Orioles would be tied for the lead in the AL East for the first time since 1997.
“I’m not waiting on that,” Showalter assured Gary Thorne in his postgame presser. “I’m waiting on — you know — see what the spread is, [I] haven’t eaten all day, Gary.”
Showalter went on to say that the Orioles have to keep control of what they can and stay on top of their own game.
“Believe me out guys will,” Showalter added. “And if not, there will be somebody there to remind them.”
