Orioles future ace Dylan Bundy earned the win in the 2012 Futures Game while fellow top prospect Manny Machado belted a two run double and flashed the leather at shortstop.

The U.S. Futures team crushed the World 17-5 and Bundy left just after his team scored six unanswered runs.  The Keys flame thrower scattered three hits in his one inning pitched.  Bundy gave up singles to Jesus Aguilar, Jae-Hoon Ha and Jean Segura.

He was helped out by U.S. catcher Tommy Joseph who threw out Jesus Aguilar for the second out of the fourth inning.  Bundy escaped unscathed when he forced Jurickson Profar to line out to right field.

As I watched Bundy pitch against the best minor league talent in the game, I was encouraged by his velocity and ability to work out of a jam.  Keep in mind that this kid has been throwing at Low-A and Single-A all season.  He hung a few breaking balls, which even he mentioned after his performance, and stuck in there to record the “W.”

Manny Machado came in to replace Billy Hamilton at shortstop during the top of the 5th inning.  In the sixth he made a fantastic catch on a line drive off the bat of Christian Bethancourt and doubled up Oswaldo Arcia for a the final out of the inning.  In the span of about three seconds, Machado showed the world his that despite his big frame, he’s got great range at shortstop.

In the bottom half of the inning, Machado belted a double to left field that scored two and padded the U.S.’ lead.
