The draft seemed to go well for the Orioles and they’ve already signed their top two picks. They’ll get into action soon but lets check out how well the rest of the system is doing as we head into July.

AAA Norfolk

OF Jason Pridie.310/.365/.517, 20 doubles, 3 triples, 10 HR, 38 RBI, 5 SB, 271 AB
1B Seth Loman.223/.390/.471, 6 doubles, 8 HR, 19 RBI, 121 AB
3B Zelous Wheeler.312/.380/.461, 6 doubles, 5 HR, 19 RBI, 141 AB
OF LJ Hoes.301/.400/.408, 19 doubles, triple, 3 HR, 35 RBI, 6 SB, 282 AB – Great walk to strikeout ratio, doubles power. This is what you can hope to get from Hoes, just hope he can keep his average up like he has been the past year or so.
3B Russ Canzler.267/.365/.422, 12 doubles, triple, 11 HR, 43 RBI, SB, 303 AB
OF Henry Urrutia.273/.333/.364, double, 11 AB – Decent start for Urrutia at AAA after only three games.

RHP Jair Jurrjens5-5, 4.06 ERA, 84.1 IP, 50 K, 21 BB – Jurrjens was just called up for a brief stint in Baltimore, pitching a couple innings out of the bullpen. He should be back in Norfolk very shortly.
RHP Josh Stinson3-4, 4.66 ERA, 75.1 IP, 51 K, 30 BB
LHP Zach Britton3-2, 3.28 ERA, 60.1 IP, 44 K, 23 BB – Britton has made his last two starts in Baltimore. Hes started great in both outings before fading after the 5th inning. It’ll be interesting to see how much longer they give him.
RHP Jake Arrieta5-3, 4.41 ERA, 49 IP, 38 K, 14 BB
LHP Mike Belfiore1-0, 4.25 ERA, 42.1 IP, 47 K, 17 BB
RHP Jairo Ascencio4-0, 2.41 ERA, 18 SV, 33.2 IP, 35 K, 7 BB – I’d love to see the O’s replace Pedro Strop with this guy.

AA Bowie

C Caleb Joseph.291/.338/.527, 20 doubles, 15 HR, 58 RBI, 275 AB – Maybe its time to move him up to AAA. He hasn’t cooled down pretty much all season and the Orioles backup catcher position isn’t exactly locked down.
OF Steve Bumbry.233/.371/.493, 4 doubles, 5 HR, 12 RBI, 73 AB
C Luis Martinez.307/.382/.412, 12 doubles, 16 RBI, 114 AB

3B Ty Kelly.283/.389/.382, 21 doubles, 2 triples, HR, 47 RBI, 4 SB, 283 AB *Traded today to the Seattle Mariners in exchange for OF Eric Thames.*

RHP Eddie Gamboa3-5, 3.77 ERA, 86 IP, 71 K, 25 BB – He may not be R.A. Dickey in the making but I’m excited to see a knuckleballer come up through the system.
RHP Mike Wright6-2, 4.12 ERA, 78.2 IP, 75 K, 26 BB
LHP Jacob Pettit4-3, 5.09 ERA, 74.1 IP, 54 K, 25 BB

RHP Oliver Drake1-0, 0.90 ERA, 3 SV, 10 IP, 13 K, 3 BB – Drake is pitching great out of the bullpen after returning from injury. I wonder if the Orioles are planning on keeping him there or transitioning him back to the rotation.

A+ Frederick

C Michael Ohlman.327/.435/.582, 13 doubles, 4 triples, 6 HR, 26 RBI, 2 SB, 153 AB – Ohlman is more of a DH at this point but if he stays healthy and keeps hitting the way he is, it doesn’t matter what his position is.
3B Nick Delmonico.266/.369/.531, 11 doubles, 12 HR, 28 RBI, 2 SB, 177 AB – Love seeing the walks and power combination.
C Allan De San Miguel.254/.398/.418, 4 doubles, 6 HR, 19 RBI, 2 SB, 134 AB

LHP Eduardo Rodriguez6-4, 2.85 ERA, 85.1 IP, 66 K, 25 BB – Congratulations to Rodriguez for being selected to participate for the World Team during the all-star festivities. He’s gotten better as the years gone on and he was just promoted to AA Bowie.

1B Hector Veloz.289/.319/.400, 2 doubles, HR, 6 RBI, 45 AB – This is a guy to watch at the lower levels. He was a pretty expensive signing a couple years ago.
1B Trey Mancini.263/.317/.342, 3 doubles, 5 RBI, 38 AB – Mancini was the Oriole’s 8th round pick in this year’s draft. He played college at Notre Dame where he showed some power.
