Orioles first baseman Derrek Lee is scheduled to have an MRI on his right wrist on Wednesday at Baltimore’s spring training complex in Sarasota. MASNSports.com’s Roch Kubatko reports that Lee’s MRI is “precautionary” and “just to be safe.”
Skipper Buck Showalter told Kubatko that Lee’s thumb, which was operated on in November, “feels great.” “You have something that inactive that long, all of a sudden you start doing other things, sometimes it kind of flares up a little bit,” Showalter said.
Brian Roberts was also inactive for the Orioles on Tuesday after he was reportedly dealing with back spasms.
