No worries. The Great Oz knew they were short at this position since last year, yet fiddled while Rome burned. Now the career second stringer that Oz paid starter money to last year is out for the season and an already weak area just got worse.
There’s nothing really left to say about the Orioles. I really felt like coming into this year that the Orioles would be nearing the .500 mark and I was wrong, dead wrong. I could sit around and lament about it all season, but I prefer to move on. I like the signing of Showalter, but they obviously need to make a ton of moves if they have any hopes of turning it around. Onto the Ravens, I think it’s going to be a nice season, probably around 10-6 or 11-5, but I still see a team that couldn’t beat the elite teams last year and a team that needs to overcome Pittsburgh and Indy. Did they do enough this offseason to overcome them? I hope so, but counting on a corner with 4 games of experience and coming off knee surgery, counting on a career back-up who plays well against the scrubs in the NFL and counting on another guy coming off surgery was stupid. Tell me all you want about why they lost in the playoffs, ignoring the corner problem may cost them a super bowl. It’s like having a Lexus and riding around with a donut spare tire.
BM1958, As a Pirates fan, I know you can relate to the struggles this team has had. There’s a ton of blame to go around, most of which falls on the current ownership. I’m hopeful that the old mn has learned his lessons and can admit that he doesn’t know as much about baseball as he thought. Hey, it happened with Steinbrenner after 14 years, so why not Angelos? If memory serves me, Showalter was one of the main ingredients in the Yankees resurgence, so let’s hope he cn repeat history here. I think MacPhail needs a strong manager who will not be afraid of tking on he GM in personnel decisions. I think AM has done some good things and some stupid things, but having another smart baseball mind cn only help.

Mark, let me know when you’ll stop making excuses for Ozzie seemingly refusing to ignore the glaring weakness on this team the last two seasons.
