hunter harvey

Heard any good news about the Orioles lately? Let me lay a little more on you: O’s prospect Hunter Harvey is experiencing “elbow tightness,” and will be evaluated by team doctors.

Yeah. Hunter Harvey. One of the team’s top pitching prospects. The one whose development may have already hit a set-back when he took a come-backer off his shin in Spring Training.

That guy.

It’s too early to assume that he’s going to need Tommy John surgery, but this is certainly not a good sign. Harvey has been shut down from throwing in extended Spring Training, and will get an MRI today with team orthopedists.

So we’ll wait and see. maybe it will turn out to be nothing. Maybe it turns out that his arm is falling off. It’s just too early to tell. Still, we have to remember that Harvey was shut down last year with elbow tightness that was later diagnosed as a flexor mass strain.

Whatever the case, Birdland will wait with baited breath on the results for the MRI. The team’s play has us back in the mode where we are looking at pitching prospects to see when the reinforcements (I’ll avoid using the word “cavalry”) will get here.

So we’ll wait and see. I’m just hoping we don’t see this guy:
