It’s a great accomplishment, although not at all in the closer’s control. No other closer even has 50 save attempts this year; J.J. has 53 tries. I seem to remember, too, that he was out for a week early and Strop got those attempts, maybe three of them? Anyway it’s partially to the credit of the rest of the bullpen that he got the chance for this record.
