Chris Dickerson walkoff homerTalk about Orioles Magic.

The O’s entered the bottom of the ninth inning trailing the Tigers 5-3 after eight remarkable innings from Detroit’s Max Scherzer. The righty had retired 16 straight Orioles batters and Jim Leyland turned things over to his closer, Jose Valverde, to finish it out.

That didn’t go so well.

Valverde surrendered a leadoff homer to Nick Markakis, then back-to-back singles to Adam Jones and Chris Davis. Papa Grande was visibly frustrated on the mound and the sellout crowd at Camden Yards caused him step off and take take a few deep breaths.

After recording two outs on popups from Matt Wieters and J.J. Hardy, the Tigers were an out away from escaping a devastating loss and had to retire the number eight hitter in the Orioles lineup. Chris Dickerson, however, had different plans. The O’s DH sent a fly ball 419 feet over the wall in right field and the Orioles walked off winners.

Joe Angel’s call on the Orioles radio network was absolutely amazing. Someone posted it on SoundCloud for your listening pleasure.
