The O’s can’t seem to get the hitting and pitching working at the same time. They were out pitched on Saturday, but hit well on Friday. On Sunday Koji Uehara pitched a gem in Boston, but Jon Lester shut down the O’s offense.
Uehara got the loss, but pitched arguably the best game an Orioles’ starter has had all year. 7 innings on the hill, something we haven’t seen yet from anyone, giving up on 5 hits, 2 earned runs, and striking out 5.
But it wasn’t enough.
The Orioles bats were silenced as Lester pitched through the 7th giving up only 4 hits and no earned runs.
The O’s finally scored in the 9th off a Ty Wiggington ground out, but couldn’t hold on losing 2-1. George Sherrill came in the game in the 8th inning to get some work as the Orioles dropped their 4th straight game.
Adam Jones left the game in the 2nd inning due to a sore right hamstring. Felix Pie fielded his position the rest of the game.
The O’s face Boston in the final game of the 4 game series on Monday at 11:00 AM. Yes, 11:00 AM…it’s Patriots Day people.
