Baltimore Orioles shortstop Manny Machado hit his first two big league home runs on Friday night. Despite just 17,000 showing up to watch the red hot Orioles, fans were treated to quite a spectacle at Oriole Park at Camden Yards.
Machado is the 12th youngest player since 1918 to have a multi-home run game. Angels superstar Mike Trout was the most recent on August 30 at age 20 years and 23 days. He’s the youngest Oriole in franchise history to record a multi-home run game. And Machado is the youngest Orioles player to hit a homer since Jim Palmer, who was 19 when he hit his first on May 16, 1965.
How’s that for history.
I guess the Orioles really rushed this kid to the big leagues though, huh?
