There really isn’t a lot to say about this game. Maryland by all accounts should win. The question is: Will they dominate Longwood or will they play down to their opponent and let the game stay close?
Maryland is coming into the game off a dominating win over Wake. Wake is terrible this year so it isn’t anyhting close to a marquee win. Longwood is even worse than Wake if that is possible. If the AP had a Bottom 25, Longwood would get some votes. They could be the worst defensive team in 1A basketball.
Longwood is led by their 6′ 6″ big man, Antwan Carter. He leads the team in scoring and rebounding. Everyone else in the starting lineup is a guard, who is 6′ 2″ or under.
I suspect Maryland should make a living in the interior paint. There is no reason to force up 3’s in this game. Assuming they can hit half of their free throws (which sometimes seems like a big “if”), this game should be a nice scrimmage in preparation for BC this weekend.
