Matt Wieters, Adam Jones and J.J. Hardy were all awarded Gold Gloves for their defensive efforts in 2012. After a late running Rallycross race, the award show aired on ESPN 2 and the Baltimore Orioles players won in all three of the positions they in which they were nominated.
Matt Wieters took home his second consecutive Gold Glove of his young career. He was behind home plate in 134 games in 2012, more than any other catcher in the American League. Wieters took the honor over finalists Alex Avila, Russell Martin and A.J. Pierzynski.
Baltimore’s good pal Keith Law of ESPN says he would have selected Royals catcher Salvador Perez (who played in 74 games) over Wieters.
The most shocking Gold Glove handed out on Tuesday night was given to Orioles center fielder Adam Jones. Hey, he had my vote, but I was sure that wonderboy Mike Trout would be awarded for his play in the outfield as he captivated the baseball world throughout the entire duration of his rookie season.
Again, KLaw says Trout > Jones.
J.J. Hardy earned his first career Gold Glove after a stellar season in the middle of Baltimore’s infield. Hardy edged Elvis Andrus and Brendan Ryan.
And you guessed it, Law thinks Ryan should have won the award over Hardy.
No one should be surprised by the Orioles slew of Gold Glove awards this season. Their second half defense helped carry them to the postseason and if Mark Reynolds played first base consistently before June, he too would have at least been a finalist.
I’m TOTALLY shocked that Keith Law didn’t agree with Hardy, Wieters, and Jones. He must still be sitting by the phone waiting for the Astros to call him and pissed that he nver even got a call from the Orioles.

Trout is much better then Jones,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,all the way around not just defense,,,,,,what a joke Jones gets this award , it’s a farce………………..
