Now that we have our New Year’s resolutions for Orioles fans, it’s time to shift our attention across the street to M&T Bank Stadium.
Here are my three resolutions for Baltimore Ravens fans in 2013.
1. Hold This Team To A Higher Standard
When did Baltimore become satisfied with “playoff appearances”? Let’s all stop bragging about how many consecutive seasons the Ravens have been one of the top six AFC teams and let’s start expecting another Lombardi Trophy.
Sure, it starts with making the playoffs, but fans shouldn’t be using the Ravens streak of postseason trips as bragging rights. You brag about rings, not missed chances to get them. The goal shouldn’t be to make it to January, it should be to be the last team standing.
2. Enjoy Ray Lewis’ Remaining Time
Ray Lewis’ career is coming to a close. Sunday could be his last home game of his Hall of Fame career. Even though Lewis isn’t the same guy he was five years ago, enjoy watching one of the best (if not the best) linebackers of all-time.
If you’re lucky enough to be at M&T Bank Stadium this weekend, keep a watchful eye on number 52.
3. Do Your Research
This one should go for any fan or any team, but I especially feel it’s true with the Ravens in Baltimore. Don’t believe everything you read or hear. Dig into the numbers, take note of the subtle remarks and listen to the quotes from the players.
Often times, we are given a very positive spin of what goes on in the world of football here in Charm City. There is much to be happy about, but make sure you’re making your own opinions, not being told how think.

Zach , your number three should be followed by every O’s fan , not the pablum that is spewed in articles on this site and others , the O’s get special treatment from the press like special needs children deserve but many do not get,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,if all the special needs children of the world got the special treatment you give the O’s the world would be a better place to live………………..Happy New Year to all Ravens fans and good luck to all the O’s fans who think they are going back to the playoffs this year…………………….the joke is on you……………….’buy the bats’ , where have I heard that before ?????????????????
Andy McPhail?!? Never heard Duquette say it, gotta be the former GM.
As a casual fan , at best , all I remember is the wonderful radio stars in this area repeating time and time again , ‘buy the bats’,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,that never happened , as a matter of fact not much of Peter the great’s money was spent on top tier players , the best thing he ever said was about not paying top flight pitchers,,,,,,,,,,,,where does that leave the O’s ? At the bottom of the heap most years , last year was smoke and luck , won’t happen again without a number one pitcher ,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,it’s really too bad they didn’t get one because the rest of the pitching staff has turned out pretty good,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,the problem is if and when a pitcher developes into a true #1 , he will not be paid,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,great for the fans huh?
