One thing the NFL and NHL have in common is their respective commissioner’s stance on swearing on reality shows. NHL commissioner Gary Bettman responded to Washington Capitals coach Bruce Boudreau’s cursing rant on HBO’s “24/7” by telling the media that it’s a “natural part of ‘the ultimate reality show.'”

NFL commissioner Roger Goodell had a similar reaction to Rex Ryan’s language on HBO’s Hard Knocks in September. “It’s something that we’re not proud of, but it’s a reality of what’s happening in those camps,” Goodell told ESPN Radio’s Mike and Mike.

The Caps and Jets coaches also got an earful from their mothers for their language.
