If it’s ever going to happen, I feel like 2014 is the year.
As a Nick Markakis fan since the early days — and I’m talking the Bowie Baysox early days — I’ve always hoped to see the Baltimore Orioles right fielder be recognized for his achievements with a roster spot in the mid-summer classic.
Let’s be honest, gone are the days of Markakis the 23 home run hitter. And that six-year, $66 million contract stings a little because I think we all (Andy MacPhail included) hoped to see the power develop after his 2007 and 2008 seasons.
Unfortunately, it hasn’t. But recently a new hero has emerged in right field: Nick Markakis the leadoff hitter.
Atop Buck Showalter‘s lineup, Markakis has slashed .283/.332/.350 in 42 games this season. Leading off games, he’s hitting .405!
So is this it? Will we finally get to see Nick Markakis the All-Star?
Is Jab wearing jeans with a shirt and tie? Nice look buddy haha.
I’m wearing a Space Mountain t-shirt with a sport coat and you choose to make fun of Jab’s look? OK…
Not jeans by the way. The blue floor makes Jab’s fancy pants look like jeans.
I was, however, wearing jeans.
I can only imagine how solid your piece is each day, Bobby. Thanks for watching.
0%. For outfielders, #13 OBP, #20th in wOBA, 36th in UZR/150, 7th in ARM.
Unless it’s a “Lifetime Achievement Award” I can’t see it happening. .300 hitting, no power outfielders are a dime a dozen.
The Ravens have a better chance of going a month without a player arrested. Sorry, Trout, Joey Bats, Ellesbury are locks…Nick will probably not break the top ten and ain’t getting picked over AJ if it comes to that. Nick will have to be satisfied collecting the highest O’s paycheck.
I thought the highest paycheck honor went to Jose Jeminez………………
New BAD BOY in town and his name is Manny,,,,,he could learn from the Ravens , he needs some American education…………………….
