The Orioles have announced that they re-acquired right handed pitcher Logan Verrett from the New York Mets for cash considerations.

The O’s originally acquired Verrett in the Rule 5 draft in 2015; the year they also selected Jason Garcia. The club elected to keep Garcia on the 25 man roster which meant Verrett was set to go back to the Mets.

In 2016, Verrett made 35 appearances for the Mets (91.2 IP) while posting a 5.20 ERA, 5.51 FIP, 1.560 WHIP and a -0.5 WAR. He will most likely compete for a spot in the bullpen despite starting 12 games in 2016. Yes, the team that employs Noah Syndergaard, Jacob deGrom, Steven Matz and Matt Harvey had Logan Verrett start 12 games for them in a season; I am as shocked as you.
