The Baltimore Orioles have acquired left-handed hitting outfielder Travis Snider from the Pittsburg Pirates in exchange for minor league pitcher Stephen Tarpley and a player to be named later.
Snider had a career year in 2014, slashing .264/.338/.438 in 359 plate appearances over 140 games and posting a 2.5 WAR.
This acquisition fills a couple holes for the Orioles, namely those left by Nick Markakis. Snider will spend most of his time platooning with the likes of Steve Pearce, Delmon Young, Alejandro De Aza, and David Lough as opposed to being a full-time corner outfielder.
