Finally something everyone in Maryland can agree on. No more debates over questions six, seven and eight, a contract extension for Baltimore Orioles manager Buck Showalter will receive a unanimous thumbs up from all of Charm City.

Jon Heyman of CBSSports.com reports that the Orioles will indeed extend Showalter’s contract this winter. Citing a source close to the team.

Showalter’s current contract is set to expire at the end of the 2013 season and many had alluded to him looking to get more involved in the game with a front office role. It appears that at least for the time being that he’ll remain in the dugout in the orange and black.

Showalter and Angelos have formed an excellent relationship, and Showalter also has the full support of O’s GM Dan Duquette, who also did a terrific job in his first year back as a GM after 10 years away from the game. Duquette has no intention of letting Showalter become a lame-duck manager.

Next up for Buck, the Manager of the Year award.
