Will Ferrell - Orioles streakingStat nerds are popping champagne like the ’72 Dolphins do when that final undefeated team takes a loss. The Orioles streak of 109 victories when leading after seven innings was snapped with an ugly 10-6 loss to the Tampa Bay Rays.

The Birds bullpen kept this miracle streak alive from August 8, 2011 through May 18, 2013. RIP, streak. You will be missed.

On Saturday the O’s lost their fourth straight game (a new season high) for the first time since May 26-June 1, 2012 when they lost six straight games. That was their longest losing streak last season.

Over the last three games, the Orioles have allowed 30 runs. Offensively, they’ve totalled 37 hits over that span, but it’s their pitching that has killed them. The O’s haven’t received a quality start in seven of their last eight games.

To put the Debbie Downer cherry on top, the Birds face one of this season’s most dominant pitchers in the American League on Sunday, Matt Moore. He’s looking for his eighth win of the season and has limited his opponents to a .172 batting average.

Oh joy.
