Zach Britton I just had to check the date. Yup, it’s still 2013 — not 2011 like I thought.

Jake Arrieta will start tonight against those pesky Detroit Tigers bats. The Twitter managers have already waved the white flag for this game, despite Arrieta’s 1.46 ERA in two career starts against the Tigers.

The Orioles will also turn to Zach Britton for Tuesday’s start to replace the flu bug-bitten Jason Hammel. Britton got shellacked in his lone start this season on April 29 in Seattle against the Mariners. The lefty surrendered six runs on 10 hits over 6 innings. He’s 2-0 with a 3.75 ERA over two starts against the Tigers in his career.

In Triple-A Norfolk, Britton had allowed two earned runs or fewer in his last five starts. He’s 3-2 with a 3.28 ERA in his last 11 games with the Tides.

There will certainly be some roster moves to come. Arrieta could be optioned after his start to make way for Britton. I still suspect that Kevin Gausman will be back to make his start on Wednesday when the Orioles place Miguel Gonzalez on the paternity leave list (if that’s what it’s called).

Stay tuned for moves.
