Orioles win in extra behind Adam Jones' 30th homerBecause 14 just wasn’t enough.

It didn’t take them 18 innings tonight, but the Orioles did win yet another game in extra frames. Baltimore swept the Mariners in Seattle behind a 3-1 11 inning effort, their 15th straight extra-inning win of 2012.

With that victory, the Orioles jumped ahead of the Athletics for the first Wild Card spot in the AL and moved to just a half game behind the Yankees, who won both games of their double-header against Toronto earlier today, for first place in the East.

Baltimore’s magic number is down to 10 and their playoff chances are now at a season high 90.2 percent.
