The cartoon bird is back people! The Orioles are reportedly returning to their fan favorite 1970 and 1983 style hats for the 2012 season.
According to MASNSports.com’s Roch Kubatko, the logo will not be exactly the same as the famous cartoon image of the ’70 and ’83 World Series teams, but will be a variation of the two. This logo won’t be an alternate cap, it will be worn “as part of the regular uniform,” says Kubatko.
Additionally, the O’s will modify the “Baltimore” script on their road jerseys and will have a special commemorative patch celebrating the 20th anniversary and Camden Yards. The Orioles are expected to make an announcement in November about the changes.
The ’70 bird and the ’83 bird are two different birds. The “variation” of the two is likely that the former will be placed on a cap with a white front.
It’s about time Angelos! Your about 20 years too late!
Nice, now how about naming a GM whose name doesn’t rhyme with “Ron Dockstill”.
Dead bird…..
