Last night, the Ravens introduced their new fight song for the 2010 season titled, The Baltimore Fight Song. After fans voiced their opinions about the new fight song in a poll on BaltimoreRavens.com, the purple and black will play the famous Baltimore Colts fight song with new lyrics geared towards the Ravens.
The jingle from the Baltimore Colts fight song remains exactly the same, while new words have been adopted to fit the Baltimore Ravens.
“The Baltimore Fight Song” takes the original “Baltimore Colts Fight Song” and adds Ravens-centric lyrics in what should make fans’ gameday experience even more exciting.
“It’s more or less a changing of the guard,” said longtime director of the Marching Ravens, John Ziemann. ”The fans spoke out on this one. They wanted to feel that tradition.”
The new fight song is sure to rally the support of Baltimore’s fans from the Johnny Unitas days at Memorial Stadium. To me, the song resonates as a historical part of Baltimore football. One that I had only heard at the Sports Legends Museum and when I watched “The Band that wouldn’t Die.”
I look forward to hearing the Marching Ravens play The Baltimore Fight Song this season. It is a move that I am glad to see the Ravens adopt. What do you think of the new song?
It is a catchy tune, but part of me wishes they went a different direction with the song. I know that the city's hang up over what happened to the Baltimore Colts is not going to go away until a certain amount of time passes, but I think they could have come up with something more distinctively Ravens. Something that would make me say "that's so Raven."
Very clever Colonel…I like it.
The Ravens need to change up their whole pre game routine…the Phil Collins, the Lee Greenwood, the U2, it's been the same old crap for the last 10 years. Fans that go to the games 3,4,5 times a year get tired of the same old stuff. Love the tribute to the vets, but can't they come up with another patriotic song? And Ray Ray, Nellie was cool like 5 years ago.
If they did something new you'd complain that they changed.
And you know it.
I agree with Marky Mark, besides all this off the field stuff doesn't mean anything. The real debates will begin once the regular season starts.
Pole and Mark, two guys still using 8 tracks, Betamax, car phones in a bag…why try something different when the same thing we've done for years works fine.
Nice, this joint goes hard….I think I can 'dougie' to this. Goooooo Ravens!!!!!!!!!!!
