Thursday night might have been the most emotional victory in Ravens franchise history. Baltimore crushed the Pittsburgh Steelers, 26-6 on national TV after a week of headlines and scandals surrounding news of Ray Rice‘s domestic abuse of his wife in February.
After the victory, the message in the Ravens locker room was clear — the team was dedicating this victory to Rice.
The win over the Steelers was dedicated to Rice several Ravens told me afterward. “Ray is still a great guy,” receiver Torrey Smith said…

Torrey Smith continued: “He’s a model man. He made a huge mistake, but he’s still a great person.”

More from Ravens locker room: “We wanted to get that for Ray,” rookie linebacker C.J. Mosley said. “He was part of this organization…

Mosley continued: "…for a long time. He put a lot of blood, sweat and tears into it.”

I asked Jacoby Jones why the game was dedicated to Rice. "We know what time it is in this circle. Ray is our brother. We pray for him."

Ravens LB Terrell Suggs: "It was a very emotional game. He's done a lot for this city. We love our brother."

Elvis Dumervil took it one step further, telling CSN Baltimore’s Brent Harris “This one’s for Ray.”
The Ravens comments are flat out embarrassing. They didn’t lose Rice to some horrible injury or tragic event out of his control. He knocked his fiancee unconscious in an elevator at a casino. They’re trying to make him sound like some sort of fallen hero.
The worst is part is, the story of this Ravens victory didn’t even have to feature Rice’s name. For the next ten days, the talking heads could have discussed the leadership John Harbaugh showed in helping his team avoid the distraction of the Rice news and stick to the job at hand. Baltimore could have been credited with moving on from this event and focusing on winning football games.
Instead, the Ravens continue to play the role of the villain by standing by a guy who beat up his wife. Now it seems like the entire team doesn’t comprehend the severity of what Rice did.
And yet another way for the Ravens to piss me. Really, they dedicated the win to a man who was booted off the team for beating his wife? Yeah a great man to dedicate the game to! I thought you dedicate games and wins to great players who were also great hearted people and couldnt play due to an unfortunate event such as a death or accident. But dedicating the game to a man who couldn’t play because he beat up the woman he “loves”? Yet another way Baltimore is keeping it classy…
Stick to baseball idiot. They can hate the action and love the person.
I totally agree. One bad decision doesn’t define a person. Rice did do a lot of great things for the community. Funny how that is easily forgotten.
It is very easily forgotten, as it should be. A man is defined by his actions and this action was atrocious. That incident will be his legacy.
Good for the Ravens! People need to get out of Janay’s family business.
and due to his shitty actions he does not deserved to be loved, dumbass
There was so much GOOD they could of dedicated the game to on this day, September 11. Instead they dedicated to a woman beater??? I lost every ounce of respect that I had for them with this move.
MyTwoCents- There is no better way of saying that, you nailed it spot on!
Only Liberals love a guy who commits a crime.
Leene, John Wayne Gacy did alot for his community as well.
Shabby, did you love Jeffrey Dahmer?
$Congress$, guess we should have stayed out of Scott Peterson’s family business.
As bad as what we saw Rice do, it’s almost assured that is not the first time he has hit a woman. If he would do that in public one must wonder what he does in private to a woman.
Nothing’ spells amusement like listening to conservative white scum belch and fart.
Hey assclown, I mean Rush Limgurgh, before you wrote that were you blowing shit up your nose all day?
You’re a functioning idiot aren’t you?
I’ll bet your wife is amused when “Dude with Attitude” is at your house belching and farting while playing “Pattycake” with her.
Got to admit though, you got a good gal there assclown. Her teeth are so yellow she could butter a whole loaf of bread!
