After being slapped with a one-game suspension for his helmet-to-helmet hit on Emmanuel Sanders, Baltimore Ravens safety Ed Reed got some surprising support from Pittsburgh Steelers safety Ryan Clark. “Tough on Ed getting suspended,” Clark tweeted after the news broke.
“I can’t say that I agree [with] that. It was a penalty[,] but I don’t believe he was intentionally trying to harm E.”
No one thinks he did it intentionally.
But Reed has violated this rule three straight years and the league saw that as enough evidence to sit him in week 12.
Of course, it should be noted that Clark has drawn a few flags himself for hits on defenseless receivers. You may remember one on Ed Dickson back in November of last season.
