Man, Texas has the Orioles’ number don’t they? I don’t get it.
Koji Uehara pitched a brilliant 6 2/3 innings allowing 2 earned runs and striking out 6. But Dave Trembley took him out in the 7th the play the match ups with his bullpen.
The O’s scored 2 in the 4th on a double by Aubrey Huff, then Huff came in on a Vincente Padilla balk. Brian Roberts added a homer to his already impressive numbers on the season. It was a solo shot to right field.
Jamie Walker, Chris Ray, and Jim Johnson came to hold Koji’s 3 run lead. They didn’t allow any runs, but they certainly made things interesting. With bases loaded and 2 outs in the top of the 8th, Dave Trembley replaced Jim Johnson with George Sherrill. The closer got the strikeout on Chris Davis, but the 9th was another story.
Top of the 9th, 1 on, 2 outs, George Sherrill vs. Michael Young. Young hits a deep homer to right field and the Rangers took a 5-4 lead.
It would be too much for the Orioles, even the heart of their lineup couldn’t come back and score another run.
