Another beautiful day at Camden Yards turned into yet another rain delay. I swear the birds can’t finish a game in under 3 hours.
But an hour long May shower wasn’t the only thing coming from the sky in Baltimore. 9 homers were hit at Camden, 5 by the birds including two back-to-back bombs.
Who is this team?
The Orioles rallied in the bottom of the 11th to beat LaTroy Hawkins and the Yanks and guarantee at least a series win.
The O’s went through six pitchers as the Brian Burres of 2007 made an appearance on the mound tonight going only 3.2 innings, with 10 hits and 8 earned runs. Ouch.
But have no fear. Super bullpen is hear.
Lance Comier, Dennis Sarfate, Jim Johnson, and George Sherrill pitched the next 5.1 innings, giving up 1 hit and no runs. Johnson went a whole inning on 4 pitches. As Gary Thorne would say, “mercy”.
Baltimore is half a game behind Toronto now in the east, 4.5 back on leading Tampa Bay.
