While the Ravens downplayed Ed Reed’s criticisms of Joe Flacco’s play against the Texans, Hall of Famer Steve Young called them “substantive.”

Speaking on a conference call to preview the NFC Championship, Young was asked about Reed’s comments and the role they may play in the Ravens locker room in comparison to the off-field drama surrounding the New York Jets.

“This is one of the things about the Ravens that helps them be where they are despite to me the systemic flaw that I described, is they have a great locker room and they have guys that self‑police,” Young commented.

He added that the comments are “pretty meaningful” and said that they should “put a red flag up.”

“So I think in a way, Joe is going to stabilize a little bit, because who wants to hear Ed Reed say something bad about you.”
