Saturday night was the fourth largest crowd at Baltimore‘s Camden Yards, undoubtedly because of Red Sox nation. Sunday the Sox swept the O’s from their cheery, southern home stadium in the three game series.
Seriously, how do you even write a recap for this game? The score was 18-10.
As you could probably imagine, pitching was atrocious. Jason Berken started on the hill, but that didn’t really matter. He only went 1.1 inning and Baltimore used five more after him.
Boston had eight players with a multi-hit day and eight players drove in runs.
Gregg Zaun was ejected in the fourth inning for arguing balls and strikes with home plate umpire Hunter Wendelstedt.
The Birds allowed 18 earned runs to Boston today, which jumped their team ERA jumped from 4.88 to 5.01. The Orioles team ERA was a brutal 9.33 in the three game weekend series against the Sox.
Baltimore did put 10 runs on the board, so at least the offense was productive. Adam Jones had a 3 for 4 day with his 18th homer of the year. Jones was 10 for 28 with four homers and 10 RBI on the seven game homestand.
Brian Roberts went 3 for 4 and drove in one and Nick Markakis had three RBI.
The Orioles continue to fall further and futher down in the east. They’re now 16 games under .500 at 44-60, which is a season worse.
They’re also 2-11 against Boston and have lost nine straight series to the BoSox.
