I don’t mean to be Johnny Raincloud after a nice win for the Ravens on the road in Cleveland, but it seems that all of Baltimore has already forgotten about the team’s announcement to kill public training camp in Westminster.
There’s a reason that bad news comes out on Friday afternoons and a reason why only several hundred people read my original column detailing the Ravens slap in the face to the fans that helped make them one of the most popular franchises is the NFL. PR firms know that when you have to disappoint your customers, do it over a weekend. That especially works when your client faces a 4-7 team and rushes for 293 yards against them.
Have you ever seen Office Space? Remember when the Bobs told Peter that it’s best to make terminations on a Friday? ”We find it’s always better to fire people on a Friday. Studies have statistically shown that there’s less chance of an incident if you do it at the end of the week.”
Turn on the radio today, who’s talking about the Ravens training camp move from Westminster? No one. And they won’t until July 2012. I tip my cap to the Ravens organization for a job well done. You let the fans down in a major way and we’re all too distracted by a lead in the AFC North and a potential home playoff game to even see it.

Terrell Suggs does not do anything quietly. Quiet people do not found “Ball So Hard” universities. Quiet people don’t have offensive formations named after them when they don’t play a down of offense. And yet, looking at the last decade of Baltimore Ravens football, it’s been easy for Suggs to get a little lost in the shuffle at times. As a self-admitted third-in-command behind Ray Lewis and Ed Reed, Suggs has not been synonymous with the Baltimore Ravens in the way those two players have.
With his three-sack performance and tremendous leadership in Baltimore’s crucial 16-6 victory over San Francisco, Terrell Suggs has etched himself firmly in at least third position not just on this current team, but in all-time Ravens defensive history. READ MORE >>>

The Baltimore Ravens will induct kicker Matt Stover into their Ring of Honor during halftime of their game against the Cincinnati Bengals. Stover will join greats like Jonathan Ogden, Peter Boulware, Michael McCrary, Art Modell and (for some reason) Earnest Byner. I’m happy to see the Ravens recognize Stover for his fantastic career and for everything he met to the organization, despite his run in Baltimore awkwardly ending with John Harbaugh giving him the boot in 2009 to let Steve Hauschka shank field goals in clutch situations.
Regardless, it’s good to see Harbaugh and Ravens will bury the hatchet and bestow upon Stover the highest honor in the Ravens organization. He meant so much to the franchise as their all-time leading scorer with 1,464 points (354 field goals and 403 extra points). As Aaron Wilson of the Carroll County Times points out, Stover also kicked 14 game winning field goals in his 18 professional seasons.
If the Ravens can put Stover’s uncomfortable departure behind them and put him in the Ring of Honor, why can’t they do the same for Brian Billick? In my opinion, Billick is a shoo-in for the Ring. Billick not only brought the Ravens their first winning season, but he brought a Super Bowl back to Baltimore and left as the city’s all-time winningest coach.

Last week before the Ravens took on the Jets, it was former defensive coordinator Rex Ryan that stirred things up with his comments about Michael McCrary‘s number being given to Paul Kruger.
Last night, Bart Scott continued to talk smack after the Ravens defeated the Jets 24-23.

When asked about how he felt to Rex Ryan being the head coach of the Jets, Scott said, “I love it. He was always the head coach.” Scott continued, “He was head coach of that football team last year, whether you guys know it or not. He kept that team together. The defense leads that team over there, and he controls the defense.”
Bart was always an advocate for Rex as the head coach of the Baltimore Ravens and has always been outspoken about everything.
In fact, even with the Ravens I have felt that Scott needed to replace that non-existent filter between his head and his mouth. He’s a fiery guy, but sometimes he goes too far. Remember this is the same guy that tossed a referee’s flag into the stands.
I wouldn’t worry too much about Scott.

One of the reasons that Rex Ryan fit in so well in Baltimore was because he has no filter between his brain and mouth. When I think about it, that was probably the reason that it took him several years to be hired as a head coach.

I sure hope the Jets know what they got themselves into.
In this week’s edition of Rex Ryan’s big mouth we’ll discuss his beef with Ravens’ linebacker Paul Kruger. That’s right folks, Rexy is dogging on the Ravens.
In a press conference in New York, Ryan brought up defensive end Michael McCrary, who wore number 99 for the Ravens.
“I’m disappointed they gave his jersey to some rookie who hasn’t proven shit, excuse my language,” Ryan said.
Kruger was the Ravens second round draft pick.
The Ravens play the Jets in their second preseason game on Monday August 24.

If you’re looking to take a swim this weekend Sandy Point State Park is the place to do it. I mean when else are you able to go swimming with Joe Flacco, Haloti Ngata, Adam Terry, Todd Heap, Rex Ryan, Michael McCrary, and Oriole Hall-of-Famer B.J. Surhoff?
The temperatures might not be suitable for a dip in the Chesapeake, but it is for a good cause. A $50 donation goes to the Special Olympics and gives you a lunch, a Polar Bear Plunge Sweat Shirt, and a complimetnary picture from the event.
I drove across the Bay Bridge today and saw parts of it that were frozen, which I haven’t seen in years. The weather report says its going to warm up for the plunge though, with highs in the low to mid 40′s. Can you feel that heat wave Baltimore?
More information can be found here. See you there!?
