I’m just going to be blunt with you, the NFL’s new kickoff rule sucks.

There’s no other way around it.  Roger Goodell and the National Football League have continued to try to prove wrong the old cliche that if it ain’t broke don’t fix it.  This season they moved the kickoff point from the 30 yard line to the 35 and what did they get?  A bunch of stupid touchbacks.

Fans don’t want to see touchbacks.  Some of the most exciting plays on the field are the 100 yard kickoff returns or full speed collisions caused by kickoffs.  Gone are those days.

Last night in the Ravens-Eagles game, five of the kickoffs resulted in touchbacks.  That’s just lame.

I propose that if the league wants to eliminate the collisions on kickoffs, then let’s just move it up to the 45 and we’ll give kickers another two points for kicking the ball through uprights on a kickoff.  While we’re at it, what the heck. Right?
