Nolan Reimold will make his long awaited return to Baltimore on Tuesday against the Red Sox. The fan favorite Orioles outfielder will have his contract selected according to MASNSports.com’s Roch Kubatko.
In 14 games since May 22, Reimold has batted .422 (19-for-45) with a .469 on-base percentage. He has six multi-hit games and he leads the International League in average and OBP over that stretch.
Reimold bounced between Baltimore, Toronto and Arizona last season. The Orioles DFA’d him on July 1 and the Blue Jays claimed him off waivers five days later. He was claimed by Arizona after Toronto designated him on August 26 and returned to the Orioles organization as a free agent after refusing an outright assignment by the D’backs in October.
The 31-year-old made his big league debut with the Orioles in 2009. He showed promise playing in 104 games while slashing .279/.365/.466, hitting 15 homers and driving in 45. Since that season however, Reimold hasn’t played in more than 87 games in a single season.
Reimold’s injury history is lengthy. He finished 2009 with left ankle surgery, went on the 60-day DL in 2012 with neck surgery, the 15-day DL in 2013 with a thigh strain and then again on the 60 and 15 day DL in 2014 with another neck surgery lower leg strain respectively.
Still, because of the flashes he showed in 2009 and in 16 games in 2012, many Orioles fans have been waiting for his call up. Well, here it is.
What can we expect from Nolan Reimold?
I honestly don’t have a clue. He’s been hitting Triple-A pitching. Will that translate to the big league level? How will his injury history affect his performance?
Nothing would surprise me.
Reimold is out of options though and he has an opt out clause in his contract set for July 12. The Orioles have a little over a month answer the questions above.
What can we expect?…an injury within two weeks.

Great remark, injury within 2 weeks, why do you think he will last that long. He will either pull a hammy or get a paper cut that puts him on the REIMOLD….ahhh, ahhhh, I meant the DL!
Seeing that the O’s have reverted to Reimold for help, does that me we are giving up on the season?
I hope he has had the impact that Wieters has had on the team but there is absolutely nothing in his history that says he can or will. Except the little old lady in Sarasota who wanted to fight my buddy when he talked bad about a limping Reimold!
