Tsuyoshi Wada has become the latest Oriole with a baffling injury. The 31-year old Japanese lefty told the Orioles on Sunday that he has been bothered by elbow discomfort. But don’t you worry, according to Wada this discomfort is totally normal.

“It’s some discomfort that I feel about every year [around this time], and I just thought I’d say something about it right off the top,” Wada said through interpreter Danny MacLeith according to Brittany Ghiroli of MLB.com. “It’s not even something to really recover from.”

But skipper Buck Showalter didn’t seem to know much about this annual discomfort. “You know this is a 31-year-old guy who knows his elbow, knows his arm, he said. “We are going to trust him.”

The problem is that these surprising injuries seem to be a reoccurring theme for the Orioles. Nick Markakis suffered an abdominal injury during the last game of the season and it wasn’t until January that it was discovered and he underwent surgery.

Zach Britton’s story is even worse. A shoulder issue forced Britton to the disabled list in August and he reported the spring training, nearly six months later, still bothered from that injury.

So it’s really no surprise that the Orioles are caught off guard by an injury.
