After sweeping the Boston Red Sox in a 17 inning epic battle at Fenway Park, the Orioles hopped on a plane and headed back home to Baltimore with the best record in baseball. When they arrived to Oriole Park At Camden Yards, 11,939 fans were there to cheer them on as they took the field against the defending American League champion Texas Rangers.
That’s 24.8 percent capacity.
Did the weather play a factor? Maybe a Monday night made it tough for fans to get to the Yard? Or are Oriole fans still not sold on this team?
MLB.com’s Brittany Ghiroli tweeted that she “thought there’d be more people” in the stands. I did too.
The Ravens will likely get bigger crowds at their practices this summer.
If you want the Orioles to do well, you’ve got to go out and support them when they do. If you want Adam Jones to re-sign in Baltimore, go out to the Yard and cheer him on.
This team just took five of six from the Yankees and Red Sox. What’s it going to take to put some butts in seats?
Did you go?
Angelos spent fourteen years letting the fans down,,,,,,Angelos spent fourteen years lying to the great fans of Baltimore,,,,,,,,it will take much more than a good start to bring back these fans,,,,,,,,,me, personally , I will wait until I see what Angelos does with Adam Jones , then I will decide if I want to give him my money again,,,,,,,,,,it will take time to draw the fans back as Peter the Great has screwed us for fourteen years and didn’t use any lube………..
This team is off to a great start, but 14 years of bad personnel decisions, bad management, and seasons under 80 wins cannot be forgotten in a mere month. How about the ticket prices for Yankee games not get jacked up 300%? How about the team wins us back? If you did 14 years of crappy work at your job do you deserve a raise after the first good month?
I am not ready to start supporting them yet. Remember they also added an extra charge to people who walk up and buy tickets. That is so lame. The stands will be packed on the weekend.
Ever buy an airline ticket, Neil?
Ever buy Ravens season tickets? I did for years and you buy full price tickets to two games to watch exhibition games.
The Orioles have some of the cheapest tickets in the MLB. The fact that anyone complains about ticket prices is ludicrous.
It’s not expensive to go to a game. But when things are tight, those extra pennies need to go to something more important. I would be at every game if I could. But right now I’m relegated to watch the game from the couch. I can’t wait to get to the park and cheer on the Birds. Not sure if they’ll be in first place by the time I get out there, but I’ll be cheering hard regardless. GO BIRDS!
Nothing personal, just lots of things to do but you can show your spirit by buying tickets to future game. On HOF statue nights, the place should be full.
It’s pretty sad when the O’s have to celebrate the past , while it is nice to do this , it is better to create more past-time memories by making them present happenings of today,,,,,,,,the best way to do this is bring in legitimate top tier players , something the O’s forgot how to do…………
Couldn’t agree more.
All teams celebrate their pasts including those that only win a world series every 85 years…Boston is celebrating their 100th anniversary of the dump they call Fenway.
