Prediction: Who is the Orioles All Star? Nick Markakis
Under 75 wins, eh? That surprises me.
There was way too much uncertainty before Spring Training started, now it's worse. If Roberts doesn't have a "Roberts like year", I can't see them winning 76 games. Guthrie's head is somewhere else. My hopes are that last year was the core of the Yankees' last hurrah. Jeter, A-Rod, Rivera…eventually Father Time has to catch up. Tex is a good ballplayer, but he's no where near the leader that Jeter is. A-Rod? Forget it. Just HOPING the demise begins this year. The Sox? Different story. They have six starting pitchers for gosh sakes. Not to mention a loaded lineup. However, Lackey is no lock, he's been injured the last two years averaging only 27 starts. Wakefield is as old as me. If Dice-K has a 2009 Dice-K year, that would be nice. Beckett is a beast. Tampa? I'm hoping their "lightning in a bottle" season is a one and done.
We'll see…that's why they play the games.
Ol' Bruz hasn't looked at anyone's predictions, less Special Team's Under 75…I'll even add the "Real Number" (in parens) for your viewing pleasure!
Wins: 75 – UNDER (73)
Roberts stolen bases: 28 – UNDER (19)
Adam Jones home runs: 22 – UNDER (16)
Guthrie’s home runs allowed: 31 – UNDER (24 w/O's before his Release)
Mike Gonzalez saves: 12 – OVER (32)
Kevin Millwood ERA: 4.0 – OVER (4.78
Wins in Fenway: 3 – PUSH (3)
Place in AL East: 4.5 – OVER (4TH…Blue Jays are flat awful)
Road wins: 32 – OVER (34)
Wieters AVG: .292 – UNDER (.274…4 fer 38 stretch in August the culprit)
Markakis outfield assists: 13 – OVER (16, as teams playing with the lead take extra chances)
Prediction: Who is the Orioles All Star? – MARKAKIS (will be interesting to see NOW that he's actually in shape)
ANOTHER under in the wins column, I gotta say I'm a little surprised. Some bold predictions, but we come to expect that…I like it. So Guthrie gets released? When do you think that will happen?
I like seeing Markakis as the All Star. I picked Jones because he's got the personality, I still Kakes is more talented but his mentality won't get him noticed here in Baltimore unfortunately.
Hey Z, far be it from me to call guys out…. 🙂 But if there's a chance you can get ahold of one Wolfson, J., I'd love to set up some kinda friendly wager re: Millhouse's ERA being under 4.00…I get a six-pack a beer if its over 4.00, and JW gets a case if its under…Just to preclude any funny business (injured after one start, etc.) lets put a simple 100 IP or more limit to the bet. Whatever you can do is much appreciated! Also, Z, kudos to you for your Under call on Wieters batting average!
I'll be sure to pass that one along to Jeff! I'd like to see him dip below 4, but just don't see it happening. I will definitely be happy if he pitches into the seventh-eighth consistently.
Also…I'm hoping that Markakis gets started early this year. He's typically struggled in April and into May usually. If he starts early I can see no reason that he doesn't get the attention for a gold glove and All Star type season.

Prediction: Who is the Orioles All Star? Adam Jones
You'll have to ask The Bruz if his case of beer bet for Millwood's ERA is on.
I agree with Jones for the All Star, he's got a big personality.
Why aren't we cutting Guthrie and giving another of the kids a shot. Sick. of Guthrie, stunk last 2 years. Also, why is tejada batting 4th ? Should be 2 hitter, goes to right well and power numbers are in the past
Guthrie is a homerun machine…a homerun giving up machine. I'm glad to see Tillman go down and develop a little bit. I think it's needed. I agree with you on Miggy though…but there isnt a better option at the moment
Winky I agree Miggy at clean up no way…he is punch and judy since he dropped the juice. BRob, Miggy, Nick, Scott, Jones, Atkins, Reimold, Matt and Caesar Salad. Flip flop Banana Cream Pie and Caesar Salad when Reimold is platooned.
I like the nicknames!
