I went back and looked at last season’s odds, the Birds were listed at 25/1 on October 29, 2012. Everyone today will be talking about the underdog Red Sox going from worst to first, but Vegas actually gave them slightly better odds than the Orioles last season (24/1).

A couple notes from the 2014 odds:

  • Vegas must be expecting the Yankees to make some serious moves this offseason. Right now their 16/1 odds are way too high.
  • Rays below the Orioles? It’s interesting that a team that made the postseason in 2013 is below a team that didn’t. In my opinion, the Orioles have many more questions to be answered this offseason than Tampa Bay.
  • I also expected the Royals to be taken a little more seriously after their finish in 2013. At 35/1, it seems that Vegas isn’t entirely sold on them going forward. I think they’ll be right back in the mix next season.
