I predicted two wins on the west coast road trip and through eight innings it look like I would be right.

I stand corrected.

David Hernandez pitched what was quite possibly his best game of his short major league career. Besides an 0-2 pitch that Jose Lopez slammed off the left field fole pole for a two run homer, Hernandez got the job done. Those two runs in the first would be the only runs Hernandez gave up through six innings of work.

Brian Bass gave up another run in his two innings of work.

The Birds were previously 2-42 when trailing after eight innings.

The Birds started their rally in the ninth inning off Seattle closer David Aardsma. Down 3-0, Melvin Mora started with a double, Gregg Zaun walked, and the ultimate bench player, Oscar Salazar, singled and the bases were loaded.

Adam Jones beat out an infield single that brought Mora across. Nick Markakis hit t a clear double play ball that was dropped by Lopez. Zaun scored.

Ty Wigginton followed up with a two run single to give the O’s a 4-3 lead.

George Sherrill came in to earn his 19th save.
