Angels: 3 Orioles 2
Recap: Tough pitching shuts down the O’s bats
It was a pitchers duel at the Yard on Wendesday afternoon. Koji Uehara took the hill against Shane Loux of the Angels. Uehara took his second loss of the season despite having another great start.
He was taken out of the game after being struck with a hard line drive off the bat of Gary Matthews in the 6th. Uehara pitched 6 1/3 giving up 3 earned runs, two of which were solo shots back-to-back in the seventh inning.
Shane Loux sat the O’s down in his start, he allowed only one earned run which came from an Aubrey Huff sac fly in the 1st inning.
The O’s didn’t score again until the 8th inning when Nick Markakis hit an RBI single to score Adam Jones. The O’s still trailed, but the hit extended Markakis’ hitting streak to 16 games.
Danys Baez and George Sherril kept the O’s in it but the bats never produced. Melvin Mora went down on a strike out to finish the game, just like the night before.
The O’s have lost 3 in a row and 5 of their last 6. They have Thursday off and start a series against the Blue Jays.
