The Washington Examiner is reporting that Baltimore’s sports radio 105.7 The Fan was unable to reach a contract agreement with their afternoon drive talk show host Anita Marks.
It is reported that both sides were unable to reach an agreement that allowed Marks to explore national options while working for the CBS station.
Anita was on the air for four years and her popular show added local sportscaster Scott Garceau last year.
Personally, when I do turn on her show it feels like she is hardly ever on it. But the constant pickering between Garceau and Marks is more than enough for me to shy away from listening.
I wonder who 105.7 will replace her with, the obvious options would be in house. Jeremy Conn and Mark Zinno both have the experience and wouldn’t be bad options in my opinion.
What do you think of Anita leaving 105.7 The Fan?
It's about time. Sports radio is starving for female commentators (and rightly so), but Anita Marks had no idea what she was talking about on a daily basis. She would call players names incorrectly, get their positions wrong, and then make wild judgments with little or no analysis beyond what one could see on a stat sheet. I am so glad that Baltimore sports fans won't have to put up with Marks, who was widely considered one of the worst in the business.
She was just awful. I always felt bad for Scott G. He is a pro and she was a hack….. Good riddance.
she didnt belong on the radio at all
It did seem that Garceau got more and more tired of Anita just saying stuff that either showed she had not clue, or to stir up discussion and controversy. Byrdman is right, Garceau deserves better.
Sheila, not to sound sexist, but is sports radio really starving for a female presence? Sure there is a derth of insightful female commentary out there, but starving seems to indicate that there is a desire from sports radio listener to have more of a female perspective. Maybe female listeners would appreciate it, but I am not so sure we males are really looking for that next great female call in host.
That being said, I would not mind seeing Amber Theoharis get a shot if MASN is looking to pair Garceau with a female co-host.
I agree with Jeff. I have to admit, I don't listen much to sports talk radio, but if you want a female who knows her stuff, Ambert Theoharis should get a shot. She has worked with Garceau before and they sounded pretty good together.
bu-bye
Amber is great on the show; however, she is too beautiful to be on the radio.
I think Amber would be a perfect companion for the show. Didn't she used to have her own show on 105.7? The A-List I believe…
Then you can watch the TV simulcast on MASN…
Good point on the simulcsst. I guess I like it when she is all gussied up as opposed to casual with iPhone buds in her ear.
I wanna hear Mike Preston on the air more often.
Preston knows his stuff. He just gets bashed here in Baltimore because he calls it like he sees it.
I like it when Amber interviews UnderArmor employees at Orioles games.
