Last evening marked the first night in history that two Asian born pitchers started at Oriole Park at Camden Yards. However only one had success. Koji Uehara made his major league debut in an Orioles‘ uniform and left the game as the winning pitcher and an ERA of 16 runs less than Chien-Ming Wang.

Uehara looked a step ahead of the Yankee batters in his five innings of work. Koji surrendered only one run and a walk but had no strike outs.

The bullpen once again stumbled. In the remaining four innings Matt Albers, Danys Baez, Dennis Sarfate and George Sherrill surrendered five earned runs. However Baez looked strong, striking out Mark Teixeira and causing an erruption of applause from the 22,000 in attendence.

Despite a rocky bullpen the Orioles’ bats looked strong again in game two of the series. The top three batters, Roberts, Jones, and Markakis, combined for 5 for 10 at the plate with four of the O’s seven RBIs.

The O’s face the Yankees in the final game of the series on Thursday at 1:35 PM.
