Leading Off
If you’re reading this, Bird’s Eye View wishes you the happiest of New Years. We hope that 2016 brings you happiness, wealth, and an Orioles World Series Championship. The offseason remains inactive, even though a number of Top 20 free agents (including one #19 who used to play in Birdland) remain on the board. Here’s hoping Dan Duquette can pull some of his late-offseason magic.
This Week on the Twitters
Nine #MLB free agents who rejected the $15.8 million qualifying offer remain unsigned. Market is slow moving this winter. @FOXSports

@keithlaw pretty sure they're just adhering to the dress code of the NYAC

I had to take Imodium most days I pitched to plug myself up. 💩

Orioles continue to be engaged with free agents. Looks like they will again do a lot of their offseason work post-holidays.

How Bad Could It Be?
Who's the worst team in AL? O's? A's? Twins? Tigers? Wsox? Yet couldn't you see any of them making plyffs? NL may have 7 worst teams in MLB.

Mike Petriello (Scott’s StatCast mancrush) calls the Orioles one of the worst teams in the AL. Is that accurate, or a little harsh? The guys talk through the best and the worst of what the O’s have to show for themselves. How close are they to being good? How close are they to being terrible?
Scott takes a reasonable line. Jake plays devil’s (or Jim Hunter’s) advocate – the results are… well, is it possible to pessimistic and optimistic at the same time?
If your answer was “no,” you’ll love how we manage it.
Orioles Magic Kingdom
The BEV guys are taking a trip to Disney (not together… well, yes… together). Don’t expect a show next week, because we’ll be recovering. While looking forward to seeing The Mouse, we got to thinking… what would an Orioles theme park look like? So if you’ll excuse this diversion from our usual hard-hitting journalism, we run through a list of the rides and attractions at Birdland.
Let us know which ones we missed, or which ones you think should make an appearance at Camden Yards. Tweet us @birdseyeviewbal.
Blowing the Save
Most podcasts try to end on a high note – the perfect coda to a quality program. That’s just not our style. Each week, we’ll end on a weak note, blowing the save with an item that didn’t quite fit into the episode, or something they simply need to get off their chests. It’s our version of taking the ball and pulling a Kevin Gregg.
