After their 4-5 road trip, the Orioles returned home to start a three game set against the Cleveland Indians.
It started so promising didn’t it? David Hernandez recorded a quality start with hi 6 inning, five hit, two earned run outing.
Even Melvin Mora hit a homerun. It was his fifth homer of the year. Matt Wieters also hit his fifth of the season.
The O’s had a 4-3 lead going into the top of the ninth inning. Baltimore was 44-2 when leading after eight innings. Andy Marte changed that with his two out, two-run homer on Jim Johnson‘s 3-2 pitch.
It was the first homerun that Johnson allowed all of last season in his 68.2 innings pitched, last night he allowed his seventh.
Baltimore couldn’t rebound after blowing the lead. Game two is tonight at 7 PM.
