Mark Hendrickson made his debut with Baltimore wearing the Friday night black uniform and O’s hat. Hendrickson got the win in 5.1 innings of work, he surrendered 1 earned run from Evan Longoria’s solo homerun in the first inning. Longoria would hit two homers on the day.
Melvin Mora drove in 3 of the Orioles’ 5 runs on the day. He brought Roberts and Jones across the plate in the first with a single and Markakis with a single in the third.
Danys Baez made his second appearance of the season, striking out 4 batters in 1.2 innings. Manager Dave Trembley replaced Baez with Jim Johnson and George Sherrill who combined for 3 earned runs. Trembley defended his decision in his post game press conference, “I just think it’s way too early to push Baez three times,” he said.
The O’s relievers have allowed five homers in the four games of the season.
